Bull Market & Bear Market#

A bull market refers to a prolonged period of rising prices, typically more than 20% from a recent low. Investors are optimistic and confidence prevails.

A bear market is the opposite: a decline of more than 20% from a recent high. Fear dominates and selling accelerates.

Mnemonic

The bull strikes upward with its horns. The bear strikes downward with its claws.

Historically, bull markets last an average of 2.7 years compared to 9.6 months for bear markets. Patience is generally rewarded.
