What Is ESG?#

Several approaches exist: "best-in-class" funds select the strongest ESG performers within each sector, exclusion funds screen out certain sectors (tobacco, weapons, fossil fuels), thematic funds target specific themes (clean energy, water, gender equality), and green bonds finance environmental projects.

The Greenwashing Risk#
Greenwashing is the practice of presenting yourself as greener than you really are. Some ESG funds hold oil companies or fast-fashion giants. The European SFDR regulation (Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation) now requires greater transparency through the Article 6, 8, and 9 classifications.
